Ability Speicalists Team takes on an Xtreme Challange

This past Saturday our talented Ability Specialists Team took on an “Xtreme” Challenge. The team spent an evening of fun and laughs at the Inverness Sports Complex near I-25 and Dry Creek. The newly renovated complex features fun group activities from the hit TV show Gladiator and other challenging obstacles.

The Competition was fierce amongst the team members that split off into groups to become “Champion of the Games.” Although whispers in the office say TJ may have been “Champion of the Games” there is still no official word on who won. Until I see someone walking around the office with a crown on their head I will not declare an official winner.

Xtreme Challenge Arena has been compared to American Gladiator meeting the television show Wipe Out and then marrying Ninja Warrior! Inside this customized gladiator-style arena, participants of all ages and abilities can participate in zany challenges, hilarious athletic competition, and super human feats. Activities challenge individuals and groups to think out-of-the-box while enjoying physical fun and exercise. They are appropriate for corporate teambuilding, company picnics, birthday parties, youth groups, scout troops, and much more…….

Since the March dance was cancelled due to poor weather conditions, the wearing of the green happened a week late but was still a blast! Check out our photos of the dance and the awards ceremony. Seven participants achieved their goals in March-Way to go!!!!

It was a great month for goals at Ability Specialists with 5 participants receiving awards! The ceremony at Fazoli’s was great as always and followed by the Sweetheart dance at the Buck Recreation Center. Pictures of the ceremony and dance are soon to follow so keep checking back!

Special Olympics Bowling

Bowling is one of the most popular activities of Ability Specialists and on Saturday, TJ and Rick supported some participants at the Special Olympics Bowling tournament.

Cassandra Leuthold is one of the best college bowlers in the country and she says having Asperger’s syndrome is one of the reasons why. The University of Nebraska senior is a three time All American and was named this year’s women’s MVP in college bowling. “I had a rough childhood,” Leuthold says referring to her struggle with Asperger’s, but bowling, which she started at age 4, was always a bright spot. “It’s a very critical thing that you must have that skill to block out the outside world to hone in on the tasks that you’re doing.
