The Behavioral Trifecta: part 1 of 2
Our Ability Specialists’ team is always striving to better ourselves, so we may continue to give at the highest levels to our clients, their families, and our community.
We’re excited to announce that earlier this year, we applied and were awarded a Training Grant from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), a part of the Colorado Department of Health Care Policy & Financing!
We are grateful to the HCPF team for their consideration and approval of our request – and we’ve begun to implement our plan with the funds from this grant. What follows is an overview of the program, our strategy, and the positive impact that will result from our efforts in these areas…
Program Overview and Strategy
Ability Specialists Inc. is presented with a unique and invaluable opportunity to enhance the quality of care and support we provide to both our staff and the individuals we serve. We have identified a training series, the Behavioral Trifecta, that holds the potential to revolutionize our approach to staff development, emotional well-being, and the delivery of exceptional services.
In recognition of our commitment to staying at the forefront of best practices in the field of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (I/DD) services, we have strategically chosen a set of trainings that will address the holistic needs of our staff and participants.
This Behavioral Trifecta training series is designed to bridge the gaps in behavior management, effective communication, self-regulation, and emotional well-being – critical areas where our staff and participants can benefit immensely.
We have identified the need for a culture that prioritizes continuous learning and personal growth within our organization. By instilling the principles of mind, body, and spirit – our trifecta – into our staff training, we intend to equip our team with indispensable tools that will not only enhance their present performance but also empower them to make substantial investments in their future.
This grant work plan outlines our strategic approach to implementing these transformative trainings and demonstrates how we plan to harness this unique opportunity to elevate the quality of care, foster meaningful connections, and support the well-being of all stakeholders involved, ultimately advancing our mission and vision.
The Behavioral Trifecta
Ability Specialists Inc. staff will receive comprehensive training in behavioral and emotional intervention through three certification programs:
Registered Behavioral Technician (RBT): 40-hour Training and State Certification administered by IABA Consultants.
Power2Relate: Human Connection Training and Certification.
Move Through Yoga: Trauma-Informed Yoga.
This trifecta will galvanize our team's skills through consistency and repetition, creating a sense of fulfillment and purpose in their work, which in turn will contribute to the overall stability and effectiveness of our workforce. The impact of this training circuit will be reflected in pre- and post-surveys, staff and client feedback, and data tracking.
Positive Impact and Results
The skills and certifications acquired through this training Trifecta will empower staff in their current roles, reducing client occurrences and increasing consumer satisfaction.
Staff will have fostered a holistic approach to behavior treatment that combines data, science, and human connection. This approach is expected to improve emotional regulation for both staff and those we serve, thereby reducing work fatigue and enhancing staff and client retention.
Completion of the Trifecta certifications will provide staff with opportunities for career growth, increased earnings, and competitive salaries in the field. Ultimately, the Behavior Trifecta training series will cultivate an environment that encourages both personal and professional growth for Ability Specialists.
