Our programs are designed to support the needs of each individual.

Job Training Program

Ability Specialists' Community Job Training Program teaches the skills that can help participants transition into a work environment.

We partner with over a dozen nonprofit organizations all over the Denver Metro area volunteering in small groups. By partnering with organizations like Arc Thrift Stores, Metro Caring, and Habitat for Humanity, we make valuable contributions to the community while integrating participants into a collaborative, inclusive and structured working environment.

We encourage our participants to grow socially and emotionally while working together as a team to achieve a common goal as well as our personal goals.

Group Supported Employment

Ability Specialists Work Crew supports participants who want to work in the community but lack some of the required skills for independent employment.

Our work crews are integrated at the University of Colorado Hospital as well as multiple Arc Thrift stores. This is not an enclave, where our clients are separated from the rest of the employees. Our clients work individually and in groups right alongside community employees.

This program educates participants through mentoring, real life experience, goal setting, and the development of specialized goals for each individual.

Individual Supported Employment

Ability Specialists Job Coaching services are available to individuals that already have employment in the community but need additional support. We provide job skills training, assessments, orientation assistance and monitoring for the individual at their place of employment.

By collaborating with managers, coworkers, and families we help our participants maintain stability in their community employment. Ongoing Employment Support services help employees and employers work together to form productive, long-term relationships.

We consult with employers to help them better understand the needs of adults with disabilities. If on-the-job issues arise, we provide immediate responses to help resolve things quickly. We focus on finding creative solutions to maximize the productivity of everyone involved.

Evening Social Club

Ability Specialists Evening Social Club teaches social skills and provides a sense of belonging through scheduled community activities such as bowling, swimming, miniature golf, museum visits and many more.

We encourage participants to engage in positive relationship building to combat the social isolation faced by so many adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The program focuses on relationship development, as well as social and emotional growth.

We help provide the framework for our participants to improve their self-confidence and participate more fully in community life. It also integrates our clients into their community so they feel more connected.

Fun Fit

Ability Specialists FunFit groups focus on basic physical fitness as well as nutrition. It provides a safe and fun atmosphere for individuals who are looking to maintain their physical health and wellbeing.

Our clients workout in the community helping them to gain confidence and feel accepted by others. Participants are encouraged to set goals and push themselves while still having a good time.

We make fitness fun!
