Garrett’s Journey of Growth & Dedication

Garrett’s incredible 20+ year journey with UCHealth and Ability Specialists is a testament to his hard work, determination, and the unwavering support he’s received along the way. His story began even before he was officially part of the UCH team, as he received individual job coaching to help him navigate the path to success.

Starting as a dishwasher, Garrett’s dedication quickly shone through, and he steadily advanced to filling trays from tickets on the line in the cafeteria. This growth wouldn’t have been possible without the guidance of Doris and the exceptional UCH team, whose belief in the program allowed it to evolve from a volunteer initiative into a paid work training opportunity.

To this day, he continues to receive praise for his work in the kitchen, consistently getting everything done without having to be asked—a true example of his growth, commitment, and the positive impact of a supportive environment. When he's not working, Garrett loves connecting with his peers and building meaningful relationships by joining the Ability Specialists' Friday evening group outings, where he’s an active part of the community.
